The Sound Cafe Visit's The CCMA's (Canadian Country Music Week and Awards)

The Sound Cafe founder & editor, Stevie Connor, with his wife Anne.

The Sound Cafe's First Visit To The CCMA's (Canadian Country Music Week and Awards).

It began in 1977 as an annual event created to heighten awareness and increase exposure for Canada’s country music artists. Today, Country Music Week is made up of three components:a music festival, which includes CCMA Fan Village, a Songwriters’ Series, talent showcases, FanFest, and the Legends Show; the CCMA Awards Show, which is a two-hour live, television special highlighting a year in country music; as well as an industry conference which allows the Canadian country music industry to honour those working behind the scenes via educational workshops and seminars, networking receptions, awards ceremonies and much more!

Wonderful to attend CCMA Seminar Series 3 - Royalties Round Up (The Big Picture) where our great friend, Andrea England was a guest speaker, Andrea is a Canadian singer-songwriter, Founder of Four Chords and The Truth, and is Associate Director of Publisher Engagement and Strategy at the Canadian Musical Reproduction Rights Agency. Andrea is about to release a brand new album, we've had a sneak listen and it is fabulous, you'll be able to find out more in The Sound Cafe very soon.

Also attending the seminar was Four Chords & The Truth Alumni, Brian Donkers, Brian is a Nashville-based, multi-genre award-winning Canadian songwriter/producer. He has earned cuts with Canadian, US, and international artists achieving millions of streams with others appearing on NFL commercials (Amy Peter’s “Cheeseburger”). No matter where they land, Brian’s songs almost always combine pop tracks with country lyrical sensibilities and his inescapable attention to detail.
