It's Never Too Late For Paul Alexander Low As He Releases Debut Album 'Sunshine After The Rain'

In his late 40’s and as a Dad/step Dad to four great kids, including baby Georgia born in Oct 2020 and engaged to be married in Sept 2021 Paul Alexander Low has much to be grateful for already.

He started playing the guitar at 16 but had his feet firmly on the ground from a young age, thanks to solid encouragement from his Dad, Paul explains his Fathers sound advice “you can do what you want” – i.e. play your guitar and sing – “but get an education first…right”!?, Paul thoughtfully took it on board, "OK Dad, good plan ! "

He stepped straight onto the corporate career conveyor belt from university and never managed to jump off. He also split his time over the last 25 years practicing and at times competing in martial arts, even winning 2 National championship’s along the way. However, in all that time he never stopped writing, gigging and having a strong passion for music. Paul has written with some platinum selling songwriters like, Mike Garvin, Chris Neil, Martin Sutton and supported chart-topping artists at live shows like Charlie Dore, The Korgis. Now its time for him to push himself out there, its his time, finally.

Paul explains "So, is it too late for me? I hope not. The music industry has changed radically in the last 10-15 years thanks to the internet. The old barriers to entry have gone so perhaps with the right approach and a lot of hard work I can find a way to cut through. Ultimately music is something I do because I love it. I write for myself openly and honestly because it’s my key form of expression, a way to release and expose my sub conscious thoughts. I have been told I have my own unique Americana / Folk, style, that my songs expose a truly sensitive artist with melodies and lyrics that cut straight through to the core. I have been compared vocally to Don Henley, Richard Marx and Bryan Adams. Humbling for sure."

"My influences are varied and include Rock Bands like Led Zep to ACDC to Queen, American Pop Rock bands like Train and Vertical Horizon, Singer Songwriters like Shawn Mullins to Joni Mitchel, Folk Singers like Cara Dillon and even classical music. The variety in taste also comes from playing different instruments like Guitar and piano, wanting to understand a great song and play it. I certainly stretch the Americana genre in multiple directions with elements of pop, soul, folk, blues, country and even rock but Americana seems to have evolved to become an umbrella term for a combination of all those things."

Paul's debut solo single was released on the 1st August 2020. Feel Your Heart Come Alive, about someone who is full of passion, love, hopes and dreams but holds themselves back through a fear of rejection or judgement was well received. It’s had over 31,000 spins on Spotify and the video has been played 23,000 times on YouTube.

His second single Hell Yeah from the EP of the same name has also been well received. For example it’s still in Blues and Roots Radio’s top ten more than 6 months after release.

Paul continues "I also released a special song in early 2021. “Carry On” is a tribute to Joss Spurway, a friend of a friend who was sadly killed in a light airplane crash in Australia in 2017. I was inspired to write the song after meeting with some of her friends who talked about her with such love and passion that I felt compelled to tell the story. It’s a meaningful piano ballad. I’ve had some amazing feedback from her friends, it was a very rewarding experience."

The debut Album called “Sunshine After The Rain” was released July 30th 2021. The album is a realization of a life-long dream to release a solo album of his own songs, produced in the way he wanted them to sound, with a full production. Paul co-produced the album with Damon Sawyer who runs Crescent Studio’s in Swindon where the recording process took place. Damon is also a Pro Drummer and man with a 6th sense for sound who has been an integral part of constructing the album and bringing Paul's vision to life. He also helped to organize bringing in the amazing session musicians including Jeremy Stacey (Noel Gallagher, Robbie Williams & Ryan Adams) Rob Brian (Goldfrapp, Simple Minds, Peter Gabriel) and Simon Johnson (Tom Jones, James Morrison, Lana Del Ray).

Paul adds "For me the collection of songs on this album is an honest and heart felt expression of music, sometimes fun and uplifting, sometimes deeply emotional and powerful. I have included those songs that have some special meaning to me or that have struck a real chord with people in the past at live shows.

In summary, music is my passion and something I truly love. What’s my ambition for my music and for myself? That my songs strike a chord with people in some way (pardon the pun) and that people appreciate the songs and the music and that hopefully it means something to them too."
