Nova Scotia's JJ ROOTS Release First Single from Much Anticipated Trillium House Studio Sessions
With JJ ROOTS previous self produced single Boxcars & Memoirs still making tracks across the pond and beyond, here comes Midnight Illusions, the very 1st single to be released from their much anticipated Trillium House Studio Sessions with renowned award-winning engineer and producer Paul Milner.
Midnight Illusions is a delicate sound tapestry of haunting acoustics, sweet rich vocals, and a travelling beat that will have your toes tapping in time with lyrics that tempt your soul to throw caution to the wind while you fall into it’s abyss. It has been said that performers, using simply their voices and instruments, are artists who relate collective stories through their songs. The roots of this are in traditional music, but it is by no means all traditional. This epitomizes JJ ROOTS.
JJ ROOTS exploded onto the East Coast Music scene with the launch of their self produced debut album “Here Goes Something”. With soul-lifting vocals and powerful melodic riffs, JJ ROOTS excites audiences with their highly impactful original Contemporary Roots-Folk-Americana vibe. They also showcase the music that inspires them through their original “JJROOTified” covers while creating profound responses from audiences.
Combining the diverse talents and backgrounds of Jocelyn Parlee and Jeff Scott Gray, the JJ ROOTS sound can rarely be categorized. Their sonic style has previously been referenced to such story telling greats as Buffy Sainte-Marie & Joan Baez with a twist of Fleetwood Mac's vintage edge.
In under 2 years since forming the duo, Jeff & Jocelyn have experienced sold out concerts on tour, various TV and Radio appearances on CTV, Global, and CBC, and won the 2019 Overall Folk/Americana Duo of the Year at the International JMA Music Awards in Tennessee. Their second time, year over year, winning this highly competitive international title!
They are currently releasing singles from their Trillium House Studio sessions they co produced with renowned award winning engineer/producer Paul Milner throughout the 18 month Covid shutdown. With a fresh approach to writing this follow up studio album, Jocelyn and Jeff continue to transform their newly developed Contemporary Roots sound.
Join JJ ROOTS for a night of live music on Saturday November 6th, as they share works from their Trillium House Studio Sessions on the next stop of the rebooted Boxcars & Memoirs 2021 Fall Concert Series.
