The story of BluesShack begins in a cosy neighbourhood pub, on the corner of a small street, tucked just outside the centre of Utrecht. In this little café, run by volunteers, a group of people gathers every third Thursday of the month to celebrate the blues through dance and music.

On this 5m2 stage, the members of BluesShack met in 2018, and the band slowly began to take its current form. Since then, the blues dance nights have led to more performances, international attention, participation in blues (dance) festivals, and the recording of some beautiful albums.

The band first gained broader visibility with their album "Live in Moscow," recorded in Studio Moskou (NL) in 2019. The second album, 'Hold On Tight,' was recorded during the lockdown period in 2020 and 2021. The titular track of this album remained in the top 10 of a significant independent British blues chart for 14 weeks. The album also garnered attention in the US, reaching a considerable number of radio stations across the country through Radio Muscle Shoals.

The third BluesShack album, recorded and mixed in early spring, is released in mid-August 2023. This new album, titled "Ten To Five," includes three new original songs written by the band members themselves. Additionally, it features exciting collaborations with Chad Strentz (Paul Lamb & The Kingsnakes, among others) from the United Kingdom and Franck L. Goldwasser (Mark Hummel, R.J. Mischo, Kim Wilson, among others), alias Paris Slim, from both the United States and France. Chad Strentz has written a song especially for this album.

A BluesShack performance takes you straight back to the old Blues and Jazz clubs, with music from the likes of Etta James, Willie Dixon, and T-Bone Walker, among others. Let yourself be enchanted by the jazzy-soul sound of lead vocalist Loes Jongerling and enjoy the tasteful play of the band members (blues harp, piano/Hammond, guitar, bass, and drums).
