Canadian Producer Duffmusiq's Sizzlingly New Blues Album Truly Reveals a Musical Soul Unleashed

International guitarist, multi-instrumentalist and award-winning producer, Duffmusiq has released his much-anticipated new album, “Urban Love". For this dynamic new recording, Duffmusiq has assembled a cast that includes some of the most sought after international guest musicians.

Duffmusiq explains “I had the idea of doing the album by having different guest musicians on every track, and also incorporating small vocal parts here and there, so that it’s not an entirely instrumental album.”

On Urban Love, Duffmusiq wears several hats – not only acting as composer/producer, but also mixing the recording and performing on guitar and keyboards.

In 2002, he graduated with Honours in both Music Production and Studio Engineering. Shortly thereafter he formed the band “Jamesking” featuring vocalist Gyles. Together, they’ve won 2nd place at both the 2008 and 2010 “Radio Star National Songwriter's Competition” and with the release of Gyles’ 2013 EP “Love and Denial” (Composed and Produced) by Duffmusiq who also received the award as “Best Urban EP Production” at The American Indie Music Awards.

The panel of judges included some notable names in the industry, including: Meshell Ndegeocello, McCoy Tyner, Raul Midon, John Medeski & Chris Wood (Medeski, Martin & Wood), Suzanne Vega, Tom Waits and Kathleen Brennan, Ziggy Marley, Brandi Carlile , Terry McBride (Nettwerk Music Group), Kevin Lyman (Vans Warped Tour), Jason Olaine (Jazz at Lincoln Center), Anthony DeCurtis (Rolling Stone), Dan Storper (Putumayo World Music), Bob Ludwig (Gateway Mastering), Bruce Iglauer (Alligator Records) and others.

In 2012, Duffmusiq signed with the Los Angeles based “Rip Tide Music” for Co-Publishing and Licensing. This association led to Duff’s music being placed on TV’s “Psych” (USA Network) and “Girlfriend’s Guide To Divorce” (Bravo) and in the films “Shark City” (Warner Brothers), “Alles Is Liebe” (Universal Studios Germany), and in 2020 Black Lightning DC Comics (Warner Brothers).

Duffmusiq is both honoured and excited to have placed an original composition (which he also produced and composed) in an upcoming Lion’s Gate production about the life and career of the talented multiple award-winning pop and R & B vocalist, Toni Braxton. With the Fall release of “Sidewalk Sequel”, Duffmusiq plans to perform and tour in support of the new recording, as well as to continue to compose for television, film, and also continue to develop, write for (and with) and produce many more talented international artists.
