Canadian Country Band, Tim & The Glory Boys, Release New Song 'Take Me Backroad' With High Valley

By Stevie Connor.

Home is where the heart is for boot-stompin’, hard-tourin’ British Columbia-by-way-of-Manitoba act Tim & The Glory Boys. Their newest single “Take Me Backroad" with High Valley is a celebration of returning to your happy place – wherever home is.

The heartwarming new single features a guest spot from High Valley’s Brad Rempel, and was written by Rempel, Jon Nite (Luke Bryan, Keith Urban, Dierks Bentley) and Ben Stennis (Jason Aldean, Tim McGraw, Cody Johnson).

“‘Take Me Backroad’ is our homage to the dusty back roads and small towns that shaped us,” says Tim Neufeld, the Tim part of Tim & The Glory Boys along with Colin Trask (dobro/percussionist) and Brenton Thorvaldson (banjo/guitar). “It’s a love letter to a simpler time and a reminder to always remember where you came from and is more than just a song to us, it’s a way of life. It’s about slowing down, soaking in the beauty of the countryside, and cherishing the memories we’ve made along the way. We hope this song takes our listeners on a nostalgic journey and reminds them of the magic that can be found in the simplest of moments.”

Adds Rempel, “’Take Me Backroad’ has a message that means so much to me. Tim & The Glory Boys sound incredible on it and I tried my best to not mess up the second verse.”

The new single will also anchor Tim & The Glory Boys’ self-titled debut album for Sony Music Canada (April 21). The 10 songs on the new album showcase The Glory Boys’ unique “canoe-grass” sound — a deft combination of country and bluegrass presented with a confidently Canadian perspective. The album features gold certified “When You Know You Know” as well as three previously released fan favourites “Without A Prayer,” “Me Without You” and summer time smash “Float,” all of which have hit the Canadian Country Radio Top Ten chart.

With almost 30 million streams worldwide, two-time Juno Award winners and multi-time Canadian Country Music Association Awards (CCMA) nominees Tim & The Glory Boys are poised to lead a growing fanbase to their own happy places.

It’s easy to get swept up in the feel-good, hand-raising joy of a Tim & The Glory Boys show. Or laugh along to their well-documented Letterkenny-like hoser escapades. What’s most important though is that the British Columbia-by-way-of-Manitoba boys are making music from — and for — the heart. Formed in 2013, Tim & The Glory — Tim Neufeld (lead vocals, acoustic guitar), Colin Trask (dobro/percussionist) and Brenton Thorvaldson (banjo/guitar), call their boot-stompin’ sound “canoe-grass,” a nod to both their bluegrass roots and the rustic country Canadiana the band have more recently begun exploring to great success.

This canoe-grass sound anchors the band’s new self-titled debut full-length album for Sony Canada. The album includes an astounding five songs which have already hit the Top 40 at country radio and have generated almost 30 million streams worldwide. “When You Know You Know” has received gold certification for total listens. The two-time Juno Award winners have also become mainstays at the Canadian Country Music Association Awards, having been nominated in 2021 for Group of the Year and Rising Star, and again in 2022 for Group of the Year.

2023 JUNO Award nominated multi-platinum country group High Valley have cultivated a loyal following that craves the band’s upbeat messages, anthemic melodies and signature fusion of contemporary country and traditional bluegrass. The musical blend has resonated with fans in the group’s native Canada and the U.S. with a force that propelled High Valley to the top-selling band in Canadian country music history.

Led by founder, lead singer-songwriter and 6-time SOCAN Country Music Award Winner Brad Rempel, the group has amassed more than half a billion global streams, notched back-to-back gold singles in the U.S., achieved multiple No. 1 songs in Canada, two gold albums and six platinum singles.

High Valley were nominated for ACM, CMT and JUNO Awards and have earned multiple CCMA Awards, with the group’s hits including “Make You Mine,” “She’s With Me” and “Grew Up On That.” In May 2022 the group shared their sixth studio album Way Back which included 13 tracks all co-written by front man Rempel who harnesses a downhome modern style in his writing that is authentic to the group.

The band was nominated for Country Album of the Year at the 2023 JUNO Awards and most recently collaborated with world-renowned artist Alison Krauss on their latest release ‘Do This Life’, the first single off their forthcoming Way Back deluxe album due out later this month. This year also marks Rempel’s debut as a television co-host, starring in the brand-new home flipping series called “Flip U” alongside Jennifer Wayne. A celebration of DIY, country music, and the hottest real estate market in Tennessee, season one of the multi-part series will air on The Design Network this spring.
