Madelyn Read has released a live video of her latest song 'Helen's'. Filmed in the real 'Helen’s Flowers' situated on Renfrew Street in Vancouver, it features Helen herself. The song showcases the sweet tones of Read's Folk/Amercana sound. It touches on issues that anyone living in small communities, or inner city neighbourhoods across Canada and the USA will recognize, the disappearance of small businesses, and the 'gentrification' of these places, with the building of condo's and car parks.

Though she may have spent her whole life in the city of Vancouver British Columbia, Madelyn Read’s heart is in the rural tales of Folk/Americana music. This duality of urban and country is ever present in her music, which really began to flourish when she met Louise Burns (Lillix) in 2019. Together, they co-wrote Madelyn's first professionally recorded single, "How Easy," which Louise produced at 604 Studios in Vancouver.

While a lifelong songwriter, Madelyn's music career really began to flourish when she met Louise Burns (Lillix) in 2019. Together, they cowrote Madelyn's first professionally recorded single, "How Easy," which Louise produced at 604 Studios in Vancouver. After releasing the song in the Fall of 2020 and taking a brief pandemic hiatus, Madelyn launched into writing her debut album for which she received funding from both FACTOR Canada and Canada Council for the Arts. This funding enabled her to record a 10-song record with the help of talented friends who now form her full band. Forming in early 2022, Madelyn and the Petrichorus already played their first festival, Foodstock Festival in Burnaby, BC, and are planning to hit the road together to tour the new album in 2023.

Her forthcoming debut album, "Concrete Country" , represents a modern Canadiana that asks, “What does it mean to live in a North American city in the 21st century?” Madelyn’s nostalgic and haunting songs feel like a lonesome train ride through the prairies that brings you straight into a bustling downtown core. An ode to home that is full of love and frustration, Concrete Country is a striking, thought-provoking, and heart-warming collection for the urban lover of folk.

On March 31st, Madelyn Read will release her new single "Roots" - a Folk/Americana tune flush with influences and experience.
