Songwriter, performer and 2-time ACM winner Tenille Townes dropped her highly anticipated new EP Masquerades via Columbia Nashville/Sony Music Nashville in partnership with RCA Records.
The soul-baring collection marks Tenille’s first release where she fully pulls down her own mask. “Masquerades really represents those things that we get used to hiding behind and the idea of being able to step out and still hold on to the hope with both hands in the middle of that process.” And at the heart of the EP is humanity.
Masquerades features a collaboration with BRELAND, known for fusing Gospel, R&B and Country, on “Shared Walls,” as well as with hit singer-songwriter Wrabel, who duets with Tenille on her single “When You Need It.”
Speaking on the meaning behind the EP, Tenille said, “Masquerades is me setting aside the smiling face I hide behind sometimes and letting the world see more of who I am. In this process, I realized that I am two different people and I struggle between those two often. I am the introverted songwriter and the fiery performer, and both are true to who I am. I look forward to showing more of these sides in my music and live performances. Music has always been a bridge for me between both of these sides, and I hope this music can help others who can relate.”
Tenille kicked off 2022 with EP track “When’s It Gonna Happen” as a response to an outpouring of fan support on social media. With lyrics like “Sometimes I feel like I’m the last one standing / I look around and all my friends are falling in love,” it’s little wonder fans connected with the hope, insecurity, fear, and anticipation Townes brings to life through the driving track. She recently performed the track on the Academy of Country Music Awards red carpet. Watch here.
Alongside an ever-growing touring schedule, earlier this month, Tenille hosted her 12th annual Big Hearts for Big Kids event in Alberta, CA, raising over $450,000 dollars. At just 15, she started the concert fundraiser in her hometown to benefit her local youth shelter, The Sunrise House, raising over $2 million thus far.
This year’s event kicked off “Big Hearts On The Road,” a mini-tour set to hit Nashville on May 3 at Exit/In on behalf of Room In The Inn, Dallas on May 12 on behalf of Midlothian Manna House, and Charlotte on May 14 on behalf of S.A.F.E. Animal Haven Rescue. Tenille took her event on the road to inspire people in their own hometowns to make a difference, where she’s partnering with fans at every stop to raise money for a cause close to their hearts. She brings her guitar and a heart for helping others and the fan brings their cause and a desire to make an impact in their community.
Additionally, Tenille will be hitting the road this summer opening for Brooks & Dunn, Jake Owen, Brad Paisley and Darius Rucker. She also has her headlining UK/European tour, set to kick off in October. The 6-date run, some of which is part of UK Country Music Week, sees the singer hitting Glasgow, London and Berlin, among others.
