Singer-Songwriter Scott McWatt Set to Release New Single 'Where We’ll Be'

Contemporary Glasgow singer-songwriter Scott McWatt is set to release his brand-new single Where We’ll Be on Friday, 28 May.

A motivating upbeat song that hooks the listener in from the first listen, Where We’ll Be is packed with memorable lyrics and a catchy refrain. The single urges people to seize the day and make the most of what they have in the moment as nobody knows what might be round the corner.

Citing inspiration from the likes of Johnny Cash, Bruce Springsteen and Counting Crows, Scott’s music is brimming with stories and tales of personal experience. His aptitude for songwriting can be heard throughout Where We’ll Be, which is the first single recorded in the lead up to his exciting new album Past Lives, set for release later this year.

Scott’s rich, memorable vocals and driving guitar are joined by guitarists Fearghal McMahon and Michael Hamilton, with Logan Whyte on drums.

Scott said: “Where We’ll Be is all about taking opportunities when they present themselves and not shying away from taking chances as you never know what is round the corner, or indeed where you might be this time next year. The single came to me one night during lockdown when I was reminiscing about how much I missed gigging and I promised myself then that I would take every opportunity that life afforded me in the future.”

Scott’s new material evokes a blend of pop influences and Americana, while remaining loyal to his strong Scottish roots.

Hailing from Glasgow, Scott didn’t learn how to play a guitar until he was 18, despite writing songs and lyrics since the tender age of 14. As a youngster, his family weren’t in the financial position to buy Scott a guitar and he was instead gifted one from a friend. With a lot of encouragement from his grandmother, Scott taught himself how to play guitar and went on to write a host of new songs with the strings at his fingertips. After dabbling in various bands, the 34-year-old has finally settled as a solo artist.

Carrying his battered guitar case playing to audiences from New York to Dublin, Paris to Edinburgh, Scott has a reputation as one of the hardest working musicians to emerge from Scotland in recent years and this single marks an exciting new chapter for the emerging Glaswegian artist.

Where We’ll Be was mastered by John Davis at Metropolis, who has mastered albums for the likes of The XX, Lana Del Ray, Paloma Faith, Paul Weller and U2, to name a few.

Where We’ll Be will be available to download and stream on Friday, 28 May 2021.
