Following the success of her debut album ‘Something Beautiful’, folk/rock singer-songwriter Jenny Colquitt releases a fourth single from this body of work.
Jenny Colquitt has announced the release of her fourth and final single off her debut album ‘Something Beautiful’. ‘God the Father’ is available to download and stream across all digital and downloading platforms. This is the most personal and honest song on the album, and it's released alongside an equally intimate and thought-provoking music video which is premiered here on The Sound Cafe.
‘God the Father’ strikes a balance between power and emotion. This release would sound at home on any classic Adele album. Colquitt has the unique ability to produce unsparing dynamics through the use of only piano, vocal and complimentary cello. Both musically and lyrically the song builds to an emotional climax that leaves the listener unsuspectingly questioning everything they have ever been told.
“I always loved this track as it shares a part of who I am at my most honest and vulnerable. I fell even more in love with it during the production process as the piano and vocals were recorded 100% live” says Colquitt.
Hailing from Widnes, North-West England, singer-songwriter Jenny Colquitt released her debut album in November 2021 to critical acclaim from the music industry and fans alike. Winner of two Best Solo Female Singer-Songwriter Awards over the last two years (FATEA Magazine, 2021 and GSMC, 2020), Jenny has amassed a promising loyal fanbase. After a successful UK tour, Jenny has landed appearances on stages such as Cornbury Music Festival and Beardy Folk Festival 2022.
Jenny’s unique folk/rock sound is heavily influenced by female singer-songwriter powerhouses such as Sandy Denny, Amy Lee, Alanis Morrisette, Eva Cassidy and Stevie Nicks.
Jenny Colquitt is also the lead singer-songwriter for Americana rock band ELY.
