Ottawa/Gatineau Based Sofia Duhaime Has Released Debut EP 'L’enfant'

Twenty-year-old singer-songwriter Sofia Duhaime releases her first EP, a 5 song project revealing her ambition and versatility as an artist.

Sofia Duhaime is a singer-songwriter from the Ottawa/Gatineau region. During the summer of 2022, she performed on many stages around the region including the Gatineau hot air balloon festival, the Rainbow Bistro opening for Serena Ryder and, later this fall, at the Folk Music Ontario Conference. Inspired by the icons of rock, folk, and French pop, her powerful voice and vulnerable lyrics create a warm and energetic atmosphere.

After her first single “Miraculeux”, she released a bilingual EP entitled “L’enfant” (“The child” in French) on October 7th, 2022. This record includes two songs in English, three in French. It is an ambitious record for Sofia, as it explores all sorts of musical genres from folk to hard rock, with touches of jazz and pop. This EP dives into themes of powerlessness, hardship, and healing through the imagery of a child making their way through a complicated world.

The first single of the EP, “Nature”s Daughter”, a lovely folk tune about an alluring love story, came out September 23rd.

The bilingual record follows stories of hardship and healing through wide and ambitious range of styles and genres. This project was created in collaboration with her musicians and friends Nicolas Charette-Côté and Andrew Schmidt.
