Matthew Holtby has returned with his second release of 2024. "Reading This Now" is a breezy Sunday drive of a pop song that sees he and his band doing what they do best, crafting emotive and thoughtful music.
Along for the ride is longtime friend and Producer Micheal Phillips, who also steered the band toward Scott Middleton's High Wattage Cottage Studios near Belleville for drum tracking. The song is the first of several singles on the way, as Holtby professes to be at his "most prolific time of writing ever." The cover art is a photo taken by his Father and bandmate that fits the vibe perfectly. Roll down the windows and turn this one up.
Warkworth, Ontario's Matthew Holtby has been writing original heartfelt music for the past two decades. The former frontman of band's like The Coachlites, Say Ritual and The Champion Heartache is taking things in a new direction by releasing new music using his own name.
A former Announcer in the Broadcasting Industry, Holtby was an On Air Personality for stations in Oshawa and Peterborough before venturing into music full time. He now resides in a quiet little town surrounded by rolling hills, in a community of artists and musicians alike.
