Luke Combs isn’t just riding high — he’s back in the saddle, and he’s bringing a couple of American legends along for the ride.

The multi-platinum country superstar’s brand-new single, “Back in the Saddle,” has dropped

via Columbia Nashville, and it’s already turning heads — especially with a music video that ropes in NASCAR royalty Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Richard Petty. Directed by Tyler Adams, the video is a turbo-charged celebration of Southern roots, speed, and heart. It's a love letter to legacy — musical, familial, and cultural.

“So much work goes into making these songs,” Combs shares. “From writing to studio time, to filming the videos. And to make this one with Dale Jr. and Richard Petty? That’s a dream come true. My grandpa would be rolling over in his grave in a good way.”

Co-written with long-time collaborators Dan Isbell and Jonathan Singleton, and co-produced with Singleton and Chip Matthews, “Back in the Saddle” captures Combs’ signature mix of grit and soul. It’s the kind of track that feels just as comfortable on a honky-tonk jukebox as it does roaring out of a truck stereo on a backroad highway.

But this single is just one more chapter in what’s already been a monumental year for Combs.

From Bonnaroo to Newport Folk Festival to Lollapalooza, he’s headlined some of the world’s most genre-blurring stages — becoming the first country artist to top both Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza’s bills. He’s crossed boundaries without ever losing touch with his roots. That rare balance is exactly why Combs resonates so powerfully — not just in Nashville, but around the globe.

A Grand Ole Opry member and the second most RIAA-certified country artist of all time (with a staggering 155.5 million certified units), Combs continues to rewrite the rulebook. His breakout anthem “Ain’t No Love in Oklahoma” recently hit number 1 at country radio, contributing to a jaw-dropping 53 cumulative weeks atop the Billboard Country Airplay chart.

His latest album, Fathers & Sons, dives deep into themes of parenthood and generational connection. It’s personal, raw, and warm—exactly the kind of songwriting that has always set Combs apart. As NPR Music noted, “he’s going beyond the country realm now and really has become a pop star, a global pop star.” Even The Wall Street Journal weighed in, praising the record’s “unexpected warmth and vulnerability.”

In between topping charts and headlining festivals, Combs somehow still found time to collaborate with a wildly diverse group of artists: Post Malone, Bailey Zimmerman, Jon Bellion, and Tracy Chapman, just to name a few. His Grammy duet of “Fast Car” with Chapman was one for the ages. He also co-led the “Concert for Carolina” alongside Eric Church, Billy Strings, and James Taylor—a benefit that raised $24.5 million for Hurricane Helene relief.

Oh, and he’s now a part of downtown Nashville nightlife with Category 10, a brand-new entertainment hub in partnership with Opry Entertainment Group. Because why not?

Luke Combs doesn’t just ride waves — he makes them. And with “Back in the Saddle,” he reminds us once again why he’s not just a country star — he’s a cultural force.

Listen to “Back in the Saddle” and watch the video now. You might just hear the engine of country music shifting into an entirely new gear.
