Japanese Math-Rockers tricot Announce UK Headline Tour & European Dates

Acclaimed Japanese rock band tricot announce UK headline tour and new single ‘Aquarium’ to be released October 5th.

Having established themselves internationally, building a mass fanbase and gaining support from the likes of NME Asia, Rolling Stone, BBC Radio 6 Music, Times Radio and NPR (to name just a few), tricot have built a massive fan base across the world and gained over 20 million streams on Spotify alone.

Developing an unusual and distinctive sound that consists of harmonisation of pop and emotional vocals with complex rhythms, tricot have become renowned for their unique math rock sound. Interestingly, however, they have no intention of composing math rock! Having previously toured the UK with Pixies, the band have a total of 109 shows overseas covering Asia, Europe, the UK and the US, always building on their reputation as an amazing live band.

Alongside the tour, tricot are also preparing for the release of their new single ‘Aquarium’. A prime example of the band’s intense, choppy, ever inventive rock textures and infectious, bright vocal delivery, the single see’s the band at their best. High-octane, complex and full of virtuoso playing across the whole band, ‘Aquarium’ is a fine representation of what the band are capable of and what to expect from their live shows.

Speaking about the single, the band share: “This song has a theme to get rid of the fixed concept of what love and relationships should be defined as. The song was made so that we can take guilt and curiosity in a positive mind, thus no negative emotions were involved in the process. Although we are a rock band, this time we also incorporated POP elements in the rhythm, which is something we don't usually do. The lyrics uses a metaphor that leaves a strong impression such as "It's an ugly shape, really", "Reversing the world, I can't be trapped by someone else's common sense anymore," and "Once I take off my shield, I won't hesitate anymore”. Those lyrics ride onto a unique and energetic J-Rock sound.”
