From the soaring peaks of the Dolomites to the immersive depths of your headphones, Pareti, the latest album from Orange and Mountains, is nothing short of a sonic revelation. Edoardo De Din and Lorenzo Pesci, the visionary duo behind the project, have crafted an album that is at once meditative and exhilarating, bridging ambient serenity with post-rock expansiveness and experimental electronic ingenuity.
Following their acclaimed Spherae project, which reimagined Renaissance compositions with contemporary sensibilities, De Din and Pesci give themselves the freedom to explore uncharted musical territories in Pareti. The result is an album that feels instinctive yet meticulously composed, reflecting a journey both outward into sound and inward toward personal equilibrium.
Standout tracks include Bolla D’Aria, a slow-building crescendo of layered vocals and live drums that washes over the listener like a mountain breeze; Senza Sogno, where metallic synth textures and Ed Carlsen’s nuanced percussions evoke a futuristic soundscape; and Baltic Pine, grounded by deep electric bass lines that lend both warmth and gravity to the composition. The album’s single, Via Appia Antica, released on 28 November, offers a tantalising glimpse of the immersive and transformative experience that awaits.
The release of Pareti under Polysonica is emblematic of the label’s pioneering spirit. Originating as a platform for immersive events, Polysonica transforms forgotten or underused spaces into vibrant arenas for sound, light, and visual art, challenging conventions and redefining the ways audiences experience music. Now expanded into a record label, Polysonica continues its mission of bridging classical, polyphonic, and electronic landscapes, championing projects that push boundaries while honoring the rich heritage that inspires them.
Pareti is not just an album, it is a journey. It is the sound of exploration, reflection, and return; a meditation on what it means to find a sonic home. Orange and Mountains have once again proven themselves as fearless navigators of contemporary music, inviting listeners into a world where every note is an invitation, every texture a revelation.
