From Barcelona’s Heart to the World Stage: ROSALÍA’s LUX Shines Bright

ROSALÍA, the GRAMMY® Award-winning singer, songwriter, and producer who has continually redefined the boundaries of modern pop, returns with LUX , her most ambitious and immersive work to date.

Released via Columbia Records, this visionary fourth studio album sees ROSALÍA blending the worlds of classical orchestration, avant-garde experimentation, and global pop sensibilities into a single, transcendent experience.

Recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Icelandic composer-conductor Daníel Bjarnason, LUX is a monumental sonic journey that unites voices across generations, genres, and continents. Among its featured collaborators are some of the most distinctive and emotionally potent artists of our time: Björk, Carminho, Estrella Morente, Silvia Pérez Cruz, Yahritza, and Yves Tumor, alongside the angelic harmonies of the Escolania de Montserrat i Cor Cambra Palau de la Música Catalana.

From the first notes of LUX, it’s clear that ROSALÍA has entered a new creative phase, one guided by intuition, depth, and spiritual resonance. The album unfolds like a four-act symphony, each movement (MOV I–IV) charting an emotional arc that explores love, grief, divinity, and renewal. Titles such as “Porcelana,” “Mio Cristo Piange Diamanti,” and “Dios Es Un Stalker” reveal an artist unafraid to confront vulnerability and transcendence in equal measure.

Born Rosalía Vila Tobella in Sant Cugat del Vallès, just outside Barcelona, Catalonia, ROSALÍA’s artistic foundation is deeply tied to the region’s vibrant musical and cultural identity. Growing up surrounded by traditional Spanish and Catalan sounds, she developed a fascination with flamenco, a passion that would later define her creative voice. After formal studies at Barcelona’s Catalonia College of Music, she emerged with a bold vision: to honour flamenco’s raw emotional power while fearlessly expanding its boundaries. Her music carries the rhythm of Andalusian palmas, the soul of Mediterranean poetry, and the futuristic pulse of global pop, bridging old worlds and new with striking originality.

The album’s launch was heralded by the release of “Berghain,” an orchestral centerpiece accompanied by a visually arresting video directed by Nicolás Méndez of Canada, the longtime creative partner behind Malamente, TKN, and Pienso En Tu Mirá. Filmed in Warsaw, the video captures a woman’s struggle through heartbreak and grief, ultimately finding solace through spiritual awakening.

ROSALÍA unveiled LUX in full during an intimate and emotional premiere at the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (MNAC) in her hometown of Barcelona, a symbolic return to her roots and a celebration of her boundless artistry.

For devoted listeners, the CD and vinyl editions of LUX include three exclusive tracks, “Focu ‘ranni,” “Jeanne,” and “Novia Robot”, offering a deeper dive into ROSALÍA’s universe. These physical formats invite fans to experience the album as it was conceived: as a living, breathing work of art.

Track Highlights:

MOV I

Introduces us to “Sexo, Violencia y Llantas” and “Divinize”, shimmering with tension and divine beauty.

MOV II

Centres around “Berghain” and “Mundo Nuevo,” where orchestral grandeur meets rhythmic experimentation.

MOV III

Challenges and mesmerizes with “Dios Es Un Stalker” and the haunting “Sauvignon Blanc.”

MOV IV

Closes the journey with “La Rumba Del Perdón” and “Magnolias,” leaving an indelible emotional imprint.

Beyond her music, ROSALÍA continues to shape global culture. She turned heads at the 2025 Met Gala in a breathtaking custom Balmain gown, gracing the pages of Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and Cosmopolitan. Her creative influence extends into fashion and film, as the face of Calvin Klein’s Fall 2025 campaign, a global ambassador for New Balance, and soon, a new presence on screen with her acting debut in Euphoria’s third season in 2026.

Since her breakout with El Mal Querer, the genre-defying flamenco opus that earned her a GRAMMY and eight Latin GRAMMYs, ROSALÍA has never ceased to push boundaries. Her 2022 masterpiece MOTOMAMI fused reggaeton, experimental pop, and digital aesthetics, topping Spotify’s Global Album Chart and winning critical acclaim worldwide. With LUX, she steps into new territory, not as a pop star, but as a cultural architect crafting a new musical language of emotion and transcendence.

In a time when much of pop music chases trends, LUX stands apart as a bold, soul-stirring statement, a reminder that art, at its highest form, is a dialogue between the earthly and the eternal.
