Four Chords and the Truth: The Fourth Floor Confession

There are concerts, and then there are moments. On November 13, 2025, one of those rare, luminous moments will unfold at TD Music Hall in Toronto as Four Chords and the Truth: The Fourth Floor Confessions takes the stage.

This isn’t just another night of music. It’s a gathering of some of Canada’s most extraordinary songwriters, Kellie Loder, Shawnee Kish, and Barbra Lica, joined by surprise guests, in an intimate setting where songs aren’t just performed, they’re confessed.

And to make the night even more extraordinary, the iconic CN Tower will light up the Toronto skyline in red, white, and black, shining bright for MusiCounts, the national charity dedicated to putting musical instruments into the hands of students in underserved schools. As the music rises from the fourth floor of TD Music Hall, the city itself will pulse in time, a beacon of creativity, compassion, and community.

Founded and curated by Andrea England, Four Chords and the Truth has grown into one of Canada’s most respected songwriter series, a place where stories are told raw and real, where laughter and heartbreak share the same verse, and where audiences witness the pure alchemy of songcraft.

England, an acclaimed songwriter in her own right, with songs recorded by Nicole Scherzinger, Tenille Townes, Meghan Patrick, and Don Amero, among others, has built the series on a simple but powerful premise: that songs are the most human form of confession.

Each edition brings together an unforgettable lineup of artists who strip away production and persona, leaving only words, melody, and truth.

This “Fourth Floor Confessions” edition promises to be one of the most emotionally charged yet, a night that blends world-class artistry with purpose, shining a literal and figurative light on the power of music to change lives.

Four Chords and the Truth: The Fourth Floor Confession

Kellie Loder:

From the windswept coastlines of Newfoundland and Labrador comes a voice that feels both celestial and deeply human. A JUNO Award nominee and multi-award-winning artist, Loder’s songwriting disarms with honesty and uplifts with hope. Their hit single “When It Comes to You” soared to number 1 on CBC Music’s Top 20 and Year-End Chart, while their latest album Transitions has earned widespread acclaim, including two East Coast Music Awards, two MusicNL Awards, and a number 1 SOCAN Songwriter Award. Whether performing across Canada, the UK, Denmark, Australia, or Japan, Loder leaves audiences moved, inspired, and profoundly connected.

“There’s something about Kellie Loder’s voice,” CBC Music wrote, “that reaches deep inside you, unearthing emotions you thought were buried.” Expect goosebumps, and maybe even a tear or two.

Barbra Lica:

A JUNO-nominated singer-songwriter-producer whose artistry bridges jazz, folk, and pop, Barbra Lica brings sophistication and soul in equal measure. Known for her warm wit and crystalline voice, she’s graced stages from Birdland in New York City to Koerner Hall in Toronto, headlining at major festivals including Festival International de Jazz de Montréal and the Vancouver International Jazz Festival.

Her recent EP Imposter Syndrome garnered Canadian Folk Music Award nominations and an Ontario Folk Music Award win for Song of the Year. Beyond her solo work, she’s written for international artists across genres — from Matt Dusk to David Archuleta and Harumi of Sony Music Japan. Whether fronting her Toronto Chamber-Pop Orchestra or sitting in the round at Four Chords and the Truth, Barbra Lica embodies what it means to be a modern Canadian artist: fearless, genre-defying, and beautifully human.

Shawnee Kish:

Few voices carry as much strength and spirit as Shawnee Kish. A three-time JUNO nominee and proud advocate for Indigenous and LGBTQ2S+ communities, Shawnee’s music blends roots-rock energy with emotional candour. From heartfelt ballads to thunderous anthems, her performances radiate resilience and truth. As she once said, “Music saved my life, and now, I use it to help others find theirs.”

On November 13th, her voice will soar through TD Music Hall like a force of nature, reminding us that truth, in all its forms, is meant to be sung.

Nova Scotia-born, Toronto-based Andrea England wears many hats, award-winning songwriter, artist, educator, advocate, and founder of Four Chords and the Truth. Her latest EP, Evidence of Love, produced by Hill Kourkoutis, dives deep into love’s many forms, nostalgic, parental, lost, betrayed, and eternal. England’s vision for the series is rooted in authenticity: bringing songwriters together not just to perform, but to share the very heart of their creative journeys.

Her leadership and artistry were recently recognized when she was honoured as a 2025 Billboard Canada Women in Music “Industry Spotlight” recipient, a fitting tribute to a woman who has championed the craft of songwriting and the voices behind the songs.

When the CN Tower glows red, white, and black that night, it won’t just be for show. It will symbolize what Four Chords and the Truth has always stood for, community, compassion, and the connective power of music.

Every ticket purchased helps support MusiCounts, Canada’s national music education charity, ensuring that kids from underserved communities get the chance to discover their own rhythm, their own voice, their own truth.

So come early. Take in the lights. Feel the stories. And witness an evening where Canada’s brightest songwriters share not just their songs, but their souls.

Tickets are $40 (+ fees/tax) and available now at TD Music Hall.

Let the music, and the tower, light the night.

Since its inception in 2015, Four Chords and the Truth has become a cornerstone of Canada’s songwriting community, an intimate stage where the country’s most talented artists gather not to perform at an audience, but with them.

Born from Andrea England’s vision to spotlight the songwriters behind the hits, the series began humbly in Toronto’s Dakota Tavern before expanding to some of the city’s most prestigious venues. Along the way, it has welcomed over 300 artists, including icons and rising stars alike, Tom Cochrane, Dan Hill, Jully Black, Serena Ryder, William Prince, Begonia, and Bobby Bazini, among many others.

The format is simple yet magnetic: four songwriters on stage, trading songs and stories in a circle of honesty and humour. But the impact is profound. Over the years, Four Chords and the Truth has raised funds for vital causes, built bridges between genres and generations, and reminded audiences that behind every song we love lies a heartbeat, a struggle, and a truth waiting to be shared.

Now, ten years on, Four Chords and the Truth remains more than a concert series, it’s a movement, a family, and a celebration of the art of songwriting itself. And this November 13th, it invites you to be part of its story.

Because sometimes, all it takes is four chords, and the truth, to light up an entire city.

On the night of November 13th, during Four Chords and the Truth, the CN Tower light show will light red, white, and black to support our charity partner, MusiCounts.
