JUNO Award-winning singer-songwriter, Prince Edward Island based Catherine MacLellan has announced the upcoming release of COYOTE LIVE, a captivating music video & documentary showcasing the songs from her latest studio record, "COYOTE." Unable to tour the record due to the global pandemic, Catherine took advantage of the continued lockdowns in PEI to film a stunning live performance that brings her music to life.
Filmed in Charlottetown, the live performance features Catherine alongside three members of her musical family: Carlie Howell, Nick Gauthier, and Rich Knox. The chemistry on set is palpable, delivering an exceptional musical experience.
The documentary portion of COYOTE LIVE offers intimate interviews, providing a personal glimpse into Catherine's life and the stories behind her songs. The interview sections were beautifully captured in and around Catherine's home.
The interview segment of the video was filmed by the talented Millefiore Clarkes, an award-winning filmmaker. Catherine previously worked with Clarkes on "The Song and The Sorrow," a deeply personal documentary about Catherine's father, Gene MacLellan, the renowned musician behind hits like "Snowbird" and "Put Your Hand in the Hand."
Under the direction of Mark Westberg and with the contributions of a brilliant team of PEI filmmakers and artists, COYOTE LIVE combines the elements of a live show and a documentary, offering viewers a captivating and immersive experience. Catherine's desire to share these songs with the world, despite the challenges imposed by COVID-19 restrictions, led her to capture the essence of her live performance on film. As a result, she is excited to release the entire project for free on her official YouTube channel.
The video premiere of COYOTE LIVE is set for June 8, 2023, and Catherine couldn't be more thrilled to share this milestone. "I’m so happy to have been able to capture this moment in time with my band and bring a live version of COYOTE to my fans," says Catherine. "It’s been a tough time for musicians over the last few years, and having this project to work on gave me a real light in the dark. Now that I’m set to release it, I hope that people everywhere can enjoy it. I’m already working on the next record, and I didn’t want COYOTE to just disappear." Catherine MacLellan is a highly acclaimed JUNO award winner and ECMA songwriter of the year. With 8 albums released over the past two decades, Catherine has captivated audiences worldwide with her soulful music. Her home in Prince Edward Island serves as a constant source of inspiration, and her songs beautifully reflect the landscape and emotions of the Island.
