Bruce Springsteen’s ‘Tracks II: The Lost Albums’ Arrives June 27 — Featuring Orchestral Noir Gem ‘Twilight Hours’
Bruce Springsteen is about to open a long-sealed vault of musical treasures. On June 27, Tracks II: The Lost Albums arrives via Sony Music, a sprawling 83-song anthology that features seven previously unreleased full-length albums from the iconic artist — including the lush, orchestral Twilight Hours.
Written over the course of a decade alongside 2019’s Western Stars, Twilight Hours showcases Springsteen diving deep into mid-century American pop, with a cinematic sound steeped in heartache, elegance, and nostalgia. Described by Springsteen as “romantic, lost-in-the-city songs,” the album draws inspiration from Burt Bacharach, Frank Sinatra, Andy Williams, and the shadowy storytelling of Flannery O’Connor and James M. Cain. There’s even a touch of classic noir, echoing the mood of the Robert Mitchum film Out of the Past.
Previewing the album today is “Sunday Love”, a previously unheard Springsteen original that channels sweeping orchestral drama and aching vulnerability. The track features contributions from Max Weinberg, Patti Scialfa, Soozie Tyrell, and producer Ron Aniello, along with Western Stars collaborators Kaveh Rastegar and Scott Tibbs.
“At one time it was either a double record [with Western Stars] or they were part of the same record,” Springsteen explains. “I love Burt Bacharach and I love those kinds of songs and those kinds of songwriters. I took a swing at it because the chordal structures and everything are much more complicated, which was fun for me to pull off. All this stuff could have come right off of those sixties albums.”
The Full Tracks II Collection Includes The Following Unreleased Albums:
Twilight Hours
Perfect World (featuring “Rain in the River”)
Streets of Philadelphia Sessions (featuring “Blind Spot”)
Faithless (featuring the title track)
Somewhere North of Nashville (featuring “Repo Man”)
Inyo (featuring “Adelita”)
LA Garage Sessions ’83
Available in limited-edition nine-LP, seven-CD, and digital formats, Tracks II comes housed in distinctive packaging, with a 100-page cloth-bound hardcover book featuring rare archival photos, detailed liner notes from essayist Erik Flannigan, and a personal introduction by Springsteen himself.
For fans looking for a more curated experience, a companion release titled Lost and Found: Selections From The Lost Albums also lands on June 27, offering 20 highlights from the broader collection on two LPs or one CD.
Whether you're a longtime Springsteen devotee or a new listener discovering the depth of his catalog, Tracks II promises to be a remarkable journey into the soul of an artist still unearthing new ways to tell timeless stories.
