Blues & Roots Radio Announce Addition Of More Quality Radio Shows To Their Award-Winning Platform

Leading multi award-winning online radio platform, Blues and Roots Radio, are not resting on their laurels, in what has been a very challenging couple of years navigating through the pandemic, with the lack of regional, national and international tours, they have come out the other end having picked up yet another award, the ISSA Award for Best International Radio Station 2021, rewarding the hard work they do promoting artists nationally and internationally.

Over the last ten years they have become known around the world for producing quality shows that feature an amazing array of genres, including many shows that are produced exclusively for them, and, they continue to add quality to the station. Based in Port Credit, Ontario, Canada they have announced even more fantastic shows that will join their 24/7 schedule.

Having recently announced the addition of Gravel & Dust Radio Show with Gene Godsey from Virginia, USA, Blues & Roots Radio will be adding three more fabulous shows, hosted by well known supporters of independent artists, welcoming Michael Wrycraft (Canada), Doug Cox (Canada) and Allan Wilkinson (England) to their line up.

Michael ('A Man Called') Wrycraft will be back to the Blues and Roots Radio schedule after a long hiatus, Michael will be presenting a brand new hourly show where he will go in depth into the work and ideas behind his album designs and playing music from each.

Michael is a Juno Award-winning and 5-time Juno Nominated Graphic/Album Designer with a twisted sense of humour, a huge passion for music and over 500 album designs to his credit including Gordon Lightfoot, Bruce Cockburn, Stan Rogers, Rush, Watermelon Slim, Harry Manx, Burton Cummings, Blackie & the Rodeo Kings and many more. His client list is a virtual who’s who in the Folk, Roots & Blues worlds today.

Friday's see the addition of a new weekly radio hour, My Northern Friday, presented by Allan Wilkinson from Northern Sky Mag in England. Allan was editor of the highly regarded magazine for thirty years or so and used to produce a bi-weekly podcast to accompany his work until retiring, but, he couldn't keep away and has returned with a brand new weekly offering of some of the best roots music out there.

Regular Features: Featured Album: A brand new album that reaches the spot. Flick the Dust Off: An old album that shaped my dubious taste. Singled Out: A 45rpm from the dim and distant. Fifty Years Ago: An LP celebrating its 50th anniversary.

Allan says, "I hope to indulge you in some of the goodies from my own record collection as well as keeping you up to date with what's new dropping through the letterbox."

Doug Cox is a roots music renaissance man. From his home in the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island, Canada, the slide guitar and dobro master has carved-out an amazingly diverse career as a recording artist, record producer and touring musician, who has played festivals, clubs and concert halls across Canada, and the United States, he also performs around the world, from Dobrofest in Slovakia to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York.

From his early days of working for and being mentored by the founders of the Edmonton Folk Festival, to his long-time position (24 years!) as Artistic Director/Executive Producer of Vancouver Island MusicFest, Doug's career in music has always included being a special event, concert and Festival producer. Doug has remained active in producing festivals & events for 40 years.
