Australian Folk-Rock Singer-Songwriter Matt Boylan-Smith Releases New Acoustic Pop Track

Australian Folk-Rock singer-songwriter Matt Boylan-Smith releases the acoustic pop track "Somewhere in Soho" in a follow up to his most recent release "Sixteen Miles High.”

The New South Wales-based musician has had a productive lockdown working on his upcoming album, also entitled Somewhere in Soho. Matt spent much of the past few years touring through Europe and he has gathered up his thoughts and experiences and put them into words and music.

Sixteen Miles High was released late last year to terrestrial radio and all streaming formats accompanied by a remarkable video produced by Matt and Ribbon Gang Media.

“I wrote most of Somewhere in Soho whilst my support act was doing soundcheck at a gig in Germany. I’ve revisited it over the last few years with different producers and feel the song has arrived in this iteration. The song was a message to one person and I only wanted them to hear it and that’s kind of how it sounds now, except I guess it’s now for everyone.”

Somewhere in Soho features multi-instrumentalist Boylan-Smith fusing acoustic guitar with Synth sounds alongside producer Dan Frizza, who has recently been working with Tones and I as her engineer.

The full album release is being prepared with subsequent single releases in the coming months and a full album release in the new year. Matt is also set to announce venues and dates for his tour with his full band. With multiple tours of Europe and a foray into South America, Matt Boylan-Smith has been gathering his experiences to move into a new direction with his songwriting.

Matt has provided the pre-match entertainment for the National Rugby League and gained national radio play on Triple J with his single We Can Be Together. His film clip for his unreleased track ‘Johnny‘ was recently recognized as the winner of the Madrid International film festival in the best shorts competition. He performed at the 40th anniversary of the Sydney Opera House and various festivals throughout Australia.

Matt has also collaborated with Alora and Senii (Finland), providing lyrics and vocals. They have generated three songs and their track “Down by the Ocean” reaching the viral top 30 in both Germany and Finland on Spotify and has over three million streams.

He has recently worked with engineer and producer Lon LeMaster (Toto 4, Don Henley) and Beau Hill (Alice Cooper, Winger, Kix, Ratt) on his originals and is currently working with producer Dan Frizza to work on an EP with the working title, Dreams to Smithereens.
