Winnipeg-Based Métis-Polish Avant-Pop KWIAT Release The Single 'Follow The Call' From Debut EP

KWIAT, the Winnipeg-based Métis Polish avant-pop artist, sets the stage ablaze with the release of "Follow the Call," the lead single from her highly anticipated debut EP. Rooted in pop, showtunes, and classical sensibilities, Kwiat captivates audiences by transcending conventional boundaries. Kwiat’s music weaves unconventional sounds, emotions, textures, colours, and arrangements with introspective and thought-provoking lyrics. With a sonic journey into her poetic landscape, Kwiat calls on listeners to lose themselves in the moment and embrace the creative fire within.

Kwiat (pronounced kwai·uht), is an avant-pop musician from Winnipeg, Manitoba whose essence is interwoven with the soulful melodies of the piano and the heartfelt resonance of the human voice, creating a sonic landscape that transcends traditional boundaries. Born of Métis and Polish heritage, Kwiat, meaning "flower" in Polish, draws inspiration in the rich poetry of the indie-pop melodies of Fiona Apple, Japanese Breakfast, and showtunes, infusing her music with cultural depth and authenticity. Kwiat's airy, lush, organically flowing style evokes a colourful floral imagery born from her Métis and Polish roots.

From the tender age of three, Kwiat found solace and expression through the ivory keys of the piano, her fingers dancing effortlessly across the notes, each keystroke reflectingher innermost emotions. It was in the works of Chopin that the graduate of the Classical Piano Baccalaureate program at the University of Manitoba found a kindred spirit from another time and place.

As Kwiat's artistry blossomed, so did her voice, a remarkable range and depth, capable of conveying the deepest of emotions with haunting beauty. With each lyric sung, KWIAT invites listeners into a world of introspection and wonder, where her Métis and Polish heritage echoes with timeless resonance.

Through her music, Kwiat seeks to bridge the divides that separate us, inviting listeners to explore the common threads that unite humanity. Whether performing on stage or composing in the quiet solitude of her home studio, Kwiat's artistry serves as a beacon of hope and understanding - reminder that, in the vast tapestry of existence, we are all connected.

In Kwiat's melodies, one can hear the whispers of dreams yet to be realized and the enduring spirit of resilience that defines us all. With each note struck and each lyric sung, Kwiat invites us to embark on a journey meant to inspire us to follow the quiet whisper leading toour dreams.

Recipient of the Women in Music Inaugural Honour Roll Award in 2023, KWIAT has already started making her mark on the Canadian music scene. Her dedication to her craft and advocacy for gender equality in the industry have earned her undeniable industry recognition. Notable achievements include, the 2020 Songsmiths Western Canadian Music Award Nomination for Community Excellence, showcasing her commitment to uplifting her musical community. The same year, Kwiat curated the "Indigeneity" playlist for the prestigious Polaris Music Prize, amplifying Indigenous voices and narratives within the music landscape.

Kwiat’s upcoming debut self-titled EP, produced by JUNO award winner Hawksley Workman (Tegan and Sara, Sarah Slean, Hey Rosetta!, Serena Ryder), mixed by JUNO Award winner George Seara (Shawn Mendes, James Bay, Demi Lovato, Alessia Cara, Rihanna, Drake, Holly Cole, Herbie Hancock, and Sting), and mastered by Elisa Pangsaeng (Yukon Blonde, Kinnie Starr, Said the Whale, GRAE, STACEY, and LOLO) is expected to be released in 2025.
