Melbourne-Based Rock 'n' Soul Outfit Leslie D. King & The Trembling Shakes Release Debut EP
Hailing from Cobden, Victoria, Leslie D. King illuminates the everyday struggles with family, friends, the search for identity and everything in between. Drawing influence from Nathaniel Rateliff & The NIghtsweats and Alabama Shakes he has created his own blend of soul and blues.
Leslie D. King & The Trembling Shakes consists of members from all over the globe, Leslie D. King made the move to the city from his humble little country town of Cobden, bringing a swag of big, soulful, rock n roll music along with him. In his travels, he made his way along Victoria's South-West coast, showcasing his music to every bar, nook and cranny he could find, catching the eyes and ears of his now healthy following of young and old. Whilst also finding his now 7-piece band, Geelong's Cam 'The Ron' Jerabek on Keys, Manchester's soul queen Amy Powell on backing vocals, Aireys Inlet's Matt 'Thundercat' Bourke, Lara's Conor Walkeden, and The Melbourne East Golden Boys Ben Williams & Victor St Clair on Trombone and Saxophone.
They now have their long awaited debut EP out, and it has been the warmest introduction to this ramshackle group of rock n rollers, Leslie front and centre showcasing his bold vocals and infectious energy, backed by his charismatic band of soul-soaked, heart filled rock 'n' roll, it's hard not to get caught up in the fun of this EP.
The song, 'The Standard Dream' is an example of the energy and fun this band seems to be all about. Written about the horrors of share housing with strangers, Leslie explains "I’ve had my fair share of nightmares so it was easy to come up with content around the topic.
Me and my keys player Cam wrote this together, we’ve written most of the material for projects together, it’s nice to have someone as talented as him to bounce off. We were bouncing around ideas for a while around the start of this project, finding what would fit. And he came to me with this after I said “Can you give me something between Alabama Shakes and Rolling Stones?” I think he did a pretty good job (haha). So once he bought me this, I came up with the lyrics and melody, and now you have ‘The Standard Dream’.
Leslie and his talented band will be touring throughout October in support of their release.
