With 'Tant Étrange', indie-folk project Feathership travels back in time, throwing a nod to Brazilian bossa and the sensual-romantic French music of the 60s and 70s. The song centers around the vocal interplay between Jean-Philippe Sauvé (songwriter behind the project) and Laurence-Anne (member of La Sécurité and a prominent artist in her own right). Vintage arrangements are the work of producer Christian Sean, Guido del Fabbro on strings and Mat Vezio on drums.

Tant Étrange is the first single from the EP 'Peace Talks', which will be released in 2023 on Ray-On (Jerôme Minière, Boogat, among others). With this song, Sauvé pens his very first work in French, after more than 15 years crafting melodic and cinematographic tunes under the Feathership alias.

Leaping from one decade to another is actually part of the song’s genesis: Sauvé first wrote it in 1999 at the age of 19, after a love story in Uruguay, then fine-tuned it in Paris around 2010, and finally recorded it in Montreal in 2021, more than 22 years after it was first written.

“Sometimes, you just have to be patient!” said Feathership. “I wanted this song to exude a kind of joyful melancholy; the lyrics also express a kind of saudade, a dream of returning to those first exhilarating days in a relationship.”

To create the music video for the song, Feathership delved into the treasures of archival films from the 1962 World's Fair. It follows the excited journey of two young lovers who discover the retro-futuristic marvels of utopian pavilions on display during the fair.

Feathership is the moniker for Jean-Philippe Sauvé’s musical project. First assembled as a six-piece indie-rock band that was for a brief moment the most talked-about rookie act from Montreal, Feathership eventually morphed into a more personal and subdued affair, putting Sauvé’s delicate songsmith abilities to the forefront, notably on the The West Side EP in 2020. With a new EP coming out this spring and a full-length album currently being recorded, Feathership is just beginning to pick up its stride.
