A Nashville Session Singer via the Internet, “Beth is blessed with a beautiful singing voice that has the dynamics to go from a whisper to the full power of cathedral bells.” says Austin Americana. Her creative abilities as a songwriter and guitarist build an eclectic bridge between folk, Americana, country, blues, pop, yodelling, gospel and roots music. Soaring vocals, artful lyrics, engaging smile and the ability to closely connect with her audience make for the powerful combination and extra edge which spells success. With 7 CDs available on her own Willow Creek Record label, Beth has been able to control her own musical destiny and direction.

Since February of 2017,  Beth has been producing and hosting the internationally syndicated, one hour weekly Beth Williams Indie Americana Songwriter Show, “Where the Colorado mountains meet the West Texas wind and beyond.” You can listen on demand from our podcast page and the show airs weekly on Blues & Roots Radio worldwide.

We asked Beth to introduce us to five artists we should be listening to,

Trevor Sewell hails from the UK, and spent several years as an accomplished “session man” before hitting out on his own. He’s got six albums, six American tours, and a whopping seventeen international awards already under his belt. He plays a mixture of blues, roots, and Americana music.

Trevor regularly performs in venues throughout Europe and the U.S. He recently headlined at the Vila Do Conde Blues Festival in Portugal (where the track below was recorded).

It’s been said that New Zealand artist Caitlin Smith has “a voice that imagination
created”.  Her latest album, You Have Reached Your Destination, creates a
multisensory universe unto itself: Braille and a tactile labyrinth
within the cover art, poetry and footsteps recorded between 14
originals. Legally blind since birth, Caitlin is a mesmerizing, prolific
and passionate performer, with her originals sandwiched between the
tastiest overs, especially the repertoire of her spiritual parents Joni
Mitchell and Leonard Cohen.

The Caitlin Smith Trio (and earlier incarnation The Fondue Set) have
held down well-loved residencies in Auckland for well over two decades.
2021 marks the release of a collaboration/CD with the Auckland Jazz
Orchestra East of the Sun. Her Nationwide tour of Aotearoa in May 2021
was well received with almost entirely sold-out shows.

Cass Clayton Band exudes a passion and energy that has made them a favorite in festivals and venues across the region. Cass has made her way into the hearts of music lovers everywhere with her evocative lyrics, smoky-smooth voice and a belting vocal range that will knock you flat. She’s also known for some soulful slide guitar playing. Cass Clayton Band blends influences of rock, funk, soul, gospel and blues in a new way with plenty of inventive sounds and unexpected twists. Cass, along with co-writer/producer, Taylor Scott, have been praised for their unique approach to contemporary American rock and roots music.

CCB’s new album, Play Nice, was #1 R&B Album in the U.S. for 11 weeks in 2019 and 2020 (Roots Music Report). Their previous self-titled album (released May, 2018) won Album of the Year (CO Blues Society Members’ Choice Awards). Cass has also been voted as one of the top three vocalists and top three slide guitar players in Colorado. CCB has been featured on radio stations and magazines worldwide.

Grant Maloy Smith is a Billboard Top 10 recording artist and Music Row Country Breakout charting songwriter of American Roots music.  His latest album, Appalachia: American Stories is getting rave reviews.

His previous album, Dust Bowl: American stories, spent 17 weeks on the Billboard charts, including eleven weeks in the Top 10. Grant made his Carnegie Hall debut in 2018 and has won numerous awards, including two Grammy® certificates. He will be appearing at Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall again after the COVID-19 crisis. In 2020 he was inducted into the Indie Music Hall of Fame in Hollywood.

Whether he’s playing with a full band or performing solo, audiences are enthralled by his meaningful songs and his sense of humour. Grant is also an actor, appearing in the feature film Oildale, filmed in Bakersfield, California.

An accomplished veteran of the Pittsburgh, Midwest and East Coast music scenes since 1965, Dave Molter counts The Beatles as his primary influence.

His past bands include stints with Pyewacket, one of Pittsburgh's premiere prog rock bands in the early 1970s (guitarist Steve Dudas, who has played with Ringo Starr, and former Love drummer George Suranovich were also members); Johnny Angel & the Halos (a Pittsburgh-area favourite); the Danny Gochnour Band and sub stints with Bill Toms & Hard Rain.

Dave's latest CD, "It Was You," was a finalist for Album of the Year at the 2021 International Singer Songwriter Awards, and the "It Was You" single was also nominated as Pop/Contemporary Male Song of the Year at the 7th Annual Josie Music Awards in Nashville. The CD is a compendium of styles, from Sixties power pop to country and contemporary rock. The album has produced 3 #1 indie radio hits.
