Album Of The Week

Anne Connor presents a featured album each week from our sister platform, Blues & Roots Radio, in genres that vary from Americana, Roots, Celtic Music, Contemporary Folk, Blues and everything in between.

Anne is co-founder of Blues & Roots Radio and is a member of The Sound Cafe team. She has served as a juror with the JUNO Awards and The Canadian Folk Music Awards and also sits on The Blues & Roots Radio International Song Contest panel of jurors.

Louise Cappi

Louise Cappi is an internationally acclaimed New Orleans-based singer/songwriter, recording artist and entertainer.


She is the daughter of the late great New York jazz guitarist, Al Cappi.  Louise and her band pack the house on Friday and Saturday nights at her weekly residency at Mahogany Jazz Hall, in New Orleans.


Louise has also been a regular performer on the NYC music scene. Cappi has received global rave reviews of her music.

The Black Sorrows


From September 17th we present 'Saint Georges Road', the new album from Melbourne's legendary Blues & Roots outfit, The Black Sorrows.​


The Black Sorrows are one of Australia’s most prolific and enduringly popular bands renowned for their high-energy live shows, musicianship, and infectious, roots-soaked blues rock.


Any examination of The Black Sorrows comes down to one person, Joe Camilleri frontman and the brains behind the band.  Recently awarded “living legend” status by Rolling Stone, Joe’s career spans an astonishing 50+ years.  As a singer, songwriter, saxophonist and producer Joe Camilleri is considered one of the most genuinely talented figures in Australian music still at the top of his game.

The Hello Darlins


Steeped in a the rich tradition of Americana Folk Roots musicality and song writing, the Hello Darlins have become an overnight sensation on major streaming platforms and digital airwaves.


A few of Canada’s most in-demand roots music session musicians decided to create something new on their own!  They created “The Hello Darlins“, a group with an impeccable pedigree poised to shake up the Americana and Roots music scene!

The debut record, which blends traditional influences with funk and pop, is a celebration of female empowerment, having been created, produced and released by women.


The six-piece group banded together after noticing a lack of female representation in trad music. This inspired them to create the 10-track album with a range of other female creatives.


The energetic band were brought together via Glasgow’s thriving music scene and the six members come from all corners of Scotland.
